Comments: "The Moai are monolithic human figures carved from stone by the Rapa Nui people, on Rapa Nui in eastern Polynesia between the years 1250 and 1500. Nearly half are still at Rano Raraku, the main moai quarry."
How did these people carve these figures from the quarry and what were they used for; Offerings? Prayers? Gifts to the elders for a hand to marry? To prove who which clan was more superior? Buried and forgotten for ages until they surfaced again as a mystery. A civilization bent on crafting art. Sculptures that mimic those who dwell on this small remote island paradise. Stone armies of the native people resting for almost a century. Ornate eyes of obsidian and back tattoos of paint and pearls. Why do some face down and others still uncut shapes in the quarry? Was there a battle, or was there lost hope because the resources dwindled where casting stone relics did not matter any more, and survival was the focus. The world may never know, but will always wonder. Though, the people who are descendants of the ancestors of the Rapa Nui people never left and may be the wisdom keepers of the stories passed down to modern times. Maybe there is no mystery after all. Their history is now a part of the landscape, burial mounds protected by the giants. But, how did they get all across the islands; Did they walk, or were they moved? The giants frozen in time melting into the ground. Will this ancient art project ever be completed; Which was the last one before they stopped? and, why?
