Comments: Today opened my eyes more deeply and my heart more felty. I was obsessed with looking for dancers in Bueno Aires to do the Tango for the shoot while we are in town. I was so blinded by this idea and was seeking something that was not happening. So we rested in the park to sit and chill, sip on Mate and smoke some weed. There was a man zipping around in his electric wheelchair selling drinks out of a cooler. Buzzing around the park. Ethan went to go get a drink from him and as he was talking to him I observed. And suddenly it hit me, wait… Why am I seeking dancers when there is this man, this person who cannot move his feet. Something in me shifted, an awareness arose out of this simple interaction. I walked up to the man and bought all of his drinks to share with my friends and even the man to quench his thirst on a hot day. We made a portrait together and he was the best model and loved being part of the project. I realized this was the magic. The connection, the realization that it’s all right in front of our eyes if we look deeply and feel more intuitively to what’s happening around us. It’s about appreciating what this man taught us. You don’t have to have legs to dance, the dance is simply how you move around in your own way. One of the most impactful lessons I’ve learned on this project. Set a goal, but don’t seek it out. Let it happen, and be patient and mindful as this energy can show up in any form at any time. Even as a man in a wheelchair making a living selling his cold drinks on a hot day. Life is simple, so why complicate it? It’s all about love anyway. To see instead of seek.
