Comments: When I first got down in Uluru with Lambie and Gersh, I was manifesting a portrait with the locals. To honor them and their land. The second we got into town I ran into Lance & Julie Peck. Lance stood in the entrance to the town square with his wife who is a prolific aboriginal painter in these parts. She's even in a few museums around the country. Lance and I hit it off and started talking about the paintings she was making. He said he would take me to Uluru on Christmas tomorrow and was happy to be a part of the art project with his family to respect and represent his culture and heritage. It was an early Christmas morning and Lance was waiting for me where we had originally met. He was with his daughter and granddaughter. Before we drove to the sacred site. Lance showed me a few of Julie's paintings. I had a gut instinct to buy their incredible work. On this holiday, I was dressed in red and felt like old Saint Nick in this small town as I walked around the square and continued to buy more paintings from each family. Lance says they are all cousins. So, I was happy to be collecting their artwork and helping out as much as I could. I left with around 11 pieces. Some to keep and some to gift to family and friends. The canvases were covered in their ancient cosmological lore and myths of creation. The Seven Sisters make up the stars in the sky at night. Where we all stem from. I rolled up the canvases into one big cylinder, threw it in the trunk, and packed out the car with the locals. We rode over to Uluru rock and there was no one in sight; it was just the family and I. I chose a specific painting that Julie painted which struck so deeply at my core. I asked Lance and Julie to hold the artwork up together in front of the holy mountain while I made my artwork with their permission and grace. It was a Christmas miracle to make this special portrait. It was the art energy that brought us together!
