After all the 27 EU countries on a solo road trip I made it! The final destination was Paris. To exhibit artwork and rest in the city I consider my second home for the long journey ahead in Asia and Australia. Martina asked to meet me at a cafe she used to work at while she was studying at the university. It was been a long time since she revisited her old stomping grounds. Now, older, she is a very successful businesswoman in the arts sector. We waited outside the cafe with her Italian friend until they opened. The staff noticed it was Martina so they let us in early as they were setting up. They offered us drinks and cappuccinos. She was reminiscing on her time her when she was young and broke. A humbling time for her that brought back fond memories. The woman behind the counter was none other than Fatouma! They had a sisterly bond and she was still working here since Martinas days. It brought her right back down memory lane and they hugged for a very long time, and even shed a few tears. It was beautiful to be in their presence, and an honor to make their portrait together. We did not intend to make this together, but it was what the moment revealed to us. Sometimes you cannot plan authenticity and just have to go with the flow. Sometimes that is the medicine we need, and to remember where we came from to be grateful for what we have now, and ready for whatever is to come. It was 11/11 at 11:11 when we made this portrait. Spiritually and numerically charged with divine alignment, and as you can see an extraordinary connection between friends, co-workers, and sisters who love one another. No matter how much time has passed or distance is traveled. The love always remains, and it is how we touch people's hearts and lives is how we are remembered. So when we see each other again, it doesn't feel like years or decades that pass, but days and minutes where we had left off our last conversation. Have you ever had a friend like that? You can go a very long time without talking to them, and when you do it is as if nothing has changed. That's love carried forward and respect buried deep.
