Faced a fierce purple thunderstorm and flood from the sky that I could not see the road. I stopped at a rest stop to nap every couple hours as I was falling asleep. It was raining heavily on my way to Croatia. Then the downpour stopped though the clouds remained grey. Diana met me at night to help me get settled in. The next day we met up in the village in the hills of Split. She was generous to have her cousin house me during my overnight stay. We walked around the city with her friend and her son. Seeing and smelling the ancient city. A castle made of stone and sand. Home of the Game of Thrones even though I have never seen the show. I found this beautifully lit dome where tourists take selfies. Observed the angles of the light and asked Diana to play in the illuminated path dancing with her shadow. It was pure poetry of feeling in the frame. The tour continued and we saw more ancient relics like sun clocks and mysterious structures. We marched upwards for a tea to watch sunset at the top of the hill overlooking the majesty of the view and medieval architecture. There was an old cemetery nearby and went through to notice the star of david on the graves and that it was all people buried from the Jewish community. I immediately thought about my Jewish mother and prayed to the family of the ancestors above and below. We continued into the night and parted ways after the art show at the hotel by the water. I walked home alone enjoying the winding castle paths back to my house to get some rest for flight to Berlin to finish the remaining countries of the EU tour.
