Comments: It was our last day in Oregon. We stopped back into Portland one last time to meet with one of my art collectors who we will call Mining Habit. He was an early Twin Flames collector and dear friend from the beginning of my journey in NFT's and Cryptopunks. We met up at the Resin Ranchers warehouse since we had a tour scheduled and it was ironic because I had just stopped smoking weed from my breathing fit days before. It was nice to share a grow house and hash experience with Ethan and the Miner to let them enjoy the finest terps in town. The growers gave us a bag of hash and we went out for a cup of coffee and matcha at the coffee warehouse next door. They were smoking weed and I was sipping some fine tea. All is good in the universe. The gang and I walked from the warehouse district back to the center of town. We saw firetrucks whizzing by and seconds later noticed black plums of smoke coming from a building. There was a massive fire that broke loose in the middle of the industrial district. It smelt like burning rubber tires that clogged the air. We were frozen in place watching the fire burn. Then hurried away once the firefighters got the water flowing and eschewed us to safety. I do hope everyone is alright and made it out okay. Miner took us back to his place to meet his family. They had a Twin Flames book sitting on the table. I met his young boys and Miner suggested we create their portrait for the project. These kids grew up with my art and their dad believing in the digital counterculture. It is always a blessing to hangout with the people who support my career and allow me to flourish and continue to create. Miner let his dog outside and the boys started playing fetch. I though this was the best moment and memory to gift their family. A true Americana upbringing. Siblings playing with their pet. There was something eerily nostalgic about growing up as it's happening and being a witness to it all. To some, a home movie of their family. To others, an artwork unraveling in its own timeline fractured from the present onto grains of film. Oh, how we perceive from memory and form. Perhaps its all one, and the art is making something of the present. Whether or not you have a sentimental connection or reflection to the content in the frame. How do we relate, how do we understand the emotions that come up when seeing an artwork? A parcel of time forever honoring the past that once was and will exist into the future. A portrait of two children playing with their beloved pet at their families home. An American Summer, nearly Fall. The in between when we had to go back to school. Finding our home in the present moment, endlessly.
