Memento Mori
Memento Mori
O Death, thy equal hand
Turns pomp to dust, and pride to shade,
The mighty fall, the humble stand,
All debts of life at last are paid.
"Memento Mori" reflects on mortality as the ultimate force of equality, dissolving status, power, and identity alike. Inspired by Shakespeare’s Hamlet, the work centers on the inevitability of death and the fragility of human legacy. The crowned skull among the pile of remains symbolizes the shared fate of king and fool, while burning manuscript pages evoke the impermanence of literature, memory, and human creation itself.
Through its theatrical references and dark atmosphere, the piece contemplates life as something fleeting and performative, suspended between existence and oblivion.
