Odd Future
Odd Future was created in Wynwood, Miami during Art Week under an intense 48-hour deadline, produced alongside three other large-scale works. Made without the comfort of extended time or routine, the piece emerged through instinct, momentum, and trust in process.
The composition brings together shanelle’s signature line work with playful fragmentation—faces, gestures, and symbols that feel slightly off-center by design. Nothing is fully resolved, yet everything belongs. The work embraces contrast, asymmetry, and humor, allowing irregularity to become its strength rather than something to be refined away.
Odd Future is a quiet declaration of identity: an acceptance of being a creative weirdo—an idea inspired by one of shanelle’s longtime influences, Mr. Kate. The piece honors the belief that the “weird ones” are often the innovators, the ones willing to see differently and move culture forward. Created under pressure and without overthinking, the work reflects pride in standing among those who create waves rather than follow them.
