I KNOW THIS FACE
Recognition is one of the quiet foundations of being human. We look at a face and immediately understand: you. But what happens when the face remains while the certainty disappears?
The features are still there, but they seem to have lost their meaning. Familiarity becomes uncertainty. Something we once knew intimately becomes strange without ever becoming completely unfamiliar.
Perhaps forgetting someone is not always losing their face. Sometimes it is losing the feeling that the face ever belonged to someone you knew.
