Little Anwar Remembering His Friends

This is an exclusive work created in honor of the birthday of collector Anwar (@mb21_m_), who has continuously supported my art for a long time. For me, it is also a tribute to a kind and profound person whose support has become an important part of my creative journey. In this work, I use symbolism as a way of describing the inner world of a person and their perception of their own life. The main character sits on a road that disappears into the unknown. The road becomes a metaphor for the journey of life — the space between what has already happened and what we have yet to see. The night speaks of the uncertainty of the future, while the tall, solitary trees resemble the people who appear around us, accompany us for certain stretches of our lives, and eventually remain somewhere behind us. But the cats occupy the most important place in this work. They appear as ghosts of the past — something between a memory, a dream, and reality. They seem to accompany the protagonist, yet they already exist on the other side of time. One of them almost physically dissolves into stardust, becoming part of the night sky, like a memory that is gradually losing its clear outlines. Over time, so much within our memories becomes intertwined and forgotten. We are no longer always able to remember events exactly as they truly happened. Some moments fade, others change, and some are reconstructed by our subconscious. Time becomes like a veil that gradually settles over us, obscuring the original contours of the past. At some point, it becomes difficult to understand where the reality we experienced ends and where the version of it created by our own memory begins. And yet, perhaps this is precisely where the value of memories lies. We do not have to remember the past perfectly for it to remain a part of us. Sometimes a memory does not exist to preserve the past unchanged, but to remind us of those who once walked beside us. That is why, for me, this work is not so much about the past as it is about the connection between the past and the present. It is about the people and beings we can no longer bring back, yet who continue to live within us, accompanying us even when the road disappears into the unknown.
