This is one of my first works in the New Topographics genre—long before I even knew what that was, or had heard of the likes of William Eggleston or Stephen Shore. I was just attracted to the "cool car," retro colors, and movie set feel of the scene. Unfortunately, I only made it about 90 seconds before someone in the office walked out and insisted that I leave. The Thunderbird Motel has since been renovated into bland, beige, modern, nothingness.
