Kabul's Tale

They took their names
They took their books
They took the streets, the classrooms, the sky
Now the women of Kabul walk like Handmaids
red robes, lowered eyes,
bodies reduced to vessels,
voices reduced to silence
In the stadiums the whips still fall
for the crime of teaching a child online,
for the crime of existing too loudly,
for the crime of remembering what freedom once felt like
This is not fiction
This is not a story from another century
This is Kabul, right now
where half a nation has been turned into ghosts
while the world looks away
And still, somewhere beneath the red and the dust,
something refuses to die
