My dad used to take us swimming every Friday afternoon. One day there was a loud fuss near the grownups pool. There was boy lying unconscious on the ground to the side of the pool. I saw my father pushing his chest and leaning on him as if he was whispering something to him. I didn’t understand what CPR was back then. I remember there was someone yelling at my dad to leave the “corpse” alone. My dad was muttering some words while performing the CPR. He was literally saying “I’m a doctor” between counting the seconds of the next CPR move to shut the annoying observer without losing concentration. “1.. I’m.. 2.. a doc.. 3 ..tor” Some people were crying while my dad persisted until the boy coughed some water and everyone was excited and happy. At this point I realized what happened and I felt so proud being the son of this man. That was the first time I saw an incident like this. I was too young I haven’t even seen a rescue like this on TV shows.
