Block 15,537,394. The Merge, woven. On 15 September 2022, Ethereum left proof of work behind. The block before this one was the last to be mined; this is the first block of proof of stake. Two bundles of threads, amber for proof of work and lilac-blue for proof of stake, run towards each other and join into one chain, the mirror image of 20 July 2016, where one chain split in two. Woven in as a brocade weft. The ground cloth is woven from the block's own hash: it sets the threading, tie-up and treadling of an 8-shaft loom, so this pattern belongs to this block and no other. Top and bottom, the hash as a punch card: all 256 bits. Woven on a simulated Jacquard loom, 160 × 240 threads.
