Here Comes the Sun
Navy Pier is a place where my past and present intertwine. I remember my grandfather picking me up from school with "Here Comes the Sun" by The Beatles playing in the car as we drove downtown. His camera preserved our moments; he always waited for me to develop the photos in his darkroom together. Those childhood memories spark joy to this day, and I wish I still had those photographs.
In September 2022, eager to shoot my first roll of 35mm film, there was only one place I would go. Navy Pier became a canvas for my storytelling through photography in my hometown - first in my digital photography, then with my grandfather's Polaroid SX-70, and now with my first 35mm film camera. As carnival scents filled the air, I carefully framed the lively scene, waiting for the perfect shot, capturing the sun's glow above swing riders in the air. A rush of nostalgia took over as I heard "Here Comes the Sun" playing in the background as I clicked the shutter.
