Insomnia Is My Night Routine
My dream journal has run out of blank pages.
The same dreams keep finding their way back to me, again and again.
Even with my eyes closed, darkness never becomes complete.
There is always something left to see.
Under the sun, every day is a battle.
It’s hard, but I know how to win.
When the light is gone, though,
the nights demand a different fight.
I wrestle with sleeplessness,
and none of the tricks I’ve learned can save me anymore.
This is no longer insomnia.
It’s a slow, nocturnal crawl through the house…
