Dlawr: Photo a Day
I've thought a lot about friendship this past year. I've seen so many of my closest relationships end. I've watched friends stop responding to texts or simply become unavailable and shut themselves off from what could be hard conversations. It sucks. And granted, every relationship is a two-way street. It's never totally one-sided. So, I can't sit here and blame one party over the other.
I get sad a lot if I'm completely honest. I used to have more close friendships than I could count. And I guess this is getting older. But in a lot of ways, amongst sadness, I am becoming okay with things. I'm okay with the few friends I have because they are people who still show up. They are people that do more than show up. They answer texts, phone calls, and show up on both hard and easy days. They aren't afraid to be goofy, honest, or even fuck up. And when fuck ups happen, we talk about it and keep going.
That's the thing I'm grateful for. People who keep showing up. Friends who I can share hard days with and joyful ones. Friends I can cry with and eat Taco Bell with.
I just want to live in a world where people don't half-ass things. Especially friendships. Show up for each other. Have conversations. Even when they are hard. Do the work to love the people in your life. It's not easy, but always worth it.
This is a double exposure I shot today. It's an empty road outside of my studio and my friends and I at 11 o'clock at night on a Wednesday night at Taco Bell.
