Dlawr: Photo a Day 2024
I was standing outside a local bar tonight just looking for my photo of the day. As I looked up the street I realized I was exactly where Julia and I had our first hang-out. It was then I remembered that two years ago today I asked her to be my girlfriend.
Julia and I didn't instantly start with a huge romantic story. It was very normal. We were just friends. I thought she was cute, but I honestly didn't think I stood a chance. At the bar pictured here, she told me all about her bad dates, school, dreams, and a million other things. She told me how she didn't want to date anyone and to which I said "So, I shouldn't ask you out?"
"No, You should not."
I can't explain it, but something drew me to Julia. There was a night when we built blanket forts together and just laid on the ground and chatted infinitely. There was something that I experienced that I had never felt before. It was a relationship that was fun and without pressure while also feeling joy and love. We kept talking and within a couple weeks were hanging out every day.
2 years later, here we are.
It's two years that have flown by. Two years that have felt like a lifetime. Two years of laughter, tears, joy, and pain. Two years of arguments. Two years of silly jokes. Two years of getting frustrated and not feeling understood. Two years of feeling so seen that sometimes I feel like I could explode.
Love is not easy. There are days when I want to run and hide because loving and being loved is terrifying. There are also moments when I want to never leave Julia's side.
I never expected meeting someone else would change the course of my life and make me a better human. I didn't plan to share life with someone in the way that we do today. I honestly didn't plan for most of my life today.
If you're in the middle of something, keep going. It can be a job, school, or anything that draws you in. If you feel the draw, keep going for it. It won't be easy, but it's always worth it!
Happy Two Years Julia. I love you infinitely!
