There's a parking lot where I get my coffee that is filled with old cars. In it are a Bentley, a BMW, a Jaguar, and this old taxi. They are all rusted over and completely abandoned.
I've been wondering a lot lately about how often we give up on things that were or could have been something great. How often do we receive beautiful things and then choose to discard them? How often do we completely drop our responsibilities and fumble the ball?
I believe we attract what is meant for us, but at the same time, I question this theory. What about those who didn't seem to fuck anything up and still got the shit end of the stick? Those that tried their best, but still ended up with sickness and hurt.
Did they deserve that or attract it? Or maybe, sometimes life just happens regardless of how well we might have done. People get sick and beautiful things get completely abandoned in parking lots. I don't know all the answers. I want to remain hopeful. I have lots of hope, but I also get sad for all the hurt and abandonment in this world.
I don't have the answers. But, I do know that we must keep going. We must keep fighting to do what's good and right. We must not give up on hope. We must hold the good things no matter how difficult life may get. Even when some days we feel completely abandoned or can only focus on these silly, rusted-out cars.
Keep going.
