Dlawr: Photo a Day 2024
I've come to realize that I want my "Photo A Day" project to be like a modern-day Norman Rockwell painting. As a kid, my dad and I would visit "Papa's Diner" in Clermont, FL. I got stitches on two different occasions from running into the same table at that diner. I ate more meals than I can count there.
But mostly, I remember the Norman Rockwell paintings above the bar. I don't think they hang there anymore, so it's just in my imagination at this point. But, to me, the paintings documented such a beautiful and real picture of simple life in America.
Most of the art I remember was people just existing day to day. Families, teachers, children, young, old, and everything in between. Today, life feels not as simple. It feels complicated and a little less clear to document things. But, through slowing down, maybe we can learn to see beauty again. Or so I hope.
