This work reinterprets the classic ukiyo-e theme of Takinogawa in Autumn, a beloved motif in Edo-period landscape prints. Pepe stands serenely beneath a canopy of fiery maple leaves, draped in a kimono whose floral patterns echo the surrounding foliage. The river winding through the valley retains the delicate, atmospheric gradients typical of Edo woodblock printing, capturing both seasonal beauty and the quiet melancholy of momijigari, the tradition of autumn-leaf viewing. By merging Pepe’s gentle presence with the refined compositional harmony of Edo landscapes, the piece honors the poetic sensitivity and contemplative mood of its original source.
