The Answer is Yes

The Answer is Yes Interaction / Controls Click / Tap: rotate active video layer Double Click / Double Tap: lock / unlock layer intensities Click & Hold (≈1.5s): freeze current layer intensities Mouse Movement: influences signal intensity and distortion P: pause / resume all video motion H: toggle on-screen UI M: hide / show cursor (cursor remains active while hidden) The Answer is Yes is an interactive, layered video work exploring the unresolved tension between humanity and artificial intelligence; between hope and harm, agency and surrender, intimacy and erosion. An artwork designed to be experienced through interaction, rather than passive viewing. The piece is constructed from nineteen simultaneous movie layers, each behaving independently, yet constantly influencing the whole. Their opacity, ordering, and interference shift in response to time, motion, and human interaction. No single layer defines the work. Meaning emerges only through accumulation, conflict, overlap and distortion. The title comes from a question that refuses to resolve itself: Is AI here to help or to harm? The answer, inevitably, is yes. As we grow alongside these systems, we project ourselves into them; our values, our fears, our shortcuts, our longing to be understood. In return, they reflect us back in fragments. Not as a mirror, but as a distortion shaped by scale, speed and incentive. The result is neither utopia nor apocalypse, but something far more familiar to humanity: complexity without clarity. Some layers suggest surveillance, others consumption, others care, labor, spectacle, or decay. None are fixed symbols. They flicker, collapse, and reassert themselves depending on how the viewer engages. At times the system feels responsive and alive; at others, indifferent and overwhelming. Control is offered, then partially withdrawn. There is no correct way to interact with the work, just as there is no correct stance to take. Pausing, locking, or hiding the interface may feel like agency or possibly, avoidance. Letting the system run may feel like trust, or is it resignation? AI is not leaving. Humanity is not absolved. What remains undecided is how we choose to live inside this entanglement. The Answer is Yes does not argue for or against AI. It asks the viewer to sit with the contradiction, to feel the weight of layered outcomes and to recognize that whatever this technology becomes, it is becoming so with us.
