Cobalt
1200°C
The porcelain collection that I have been gathering over the course of a year encapsulates my inner experiences and exploration of vulnerability. The main inspiration for the works came from the properties of cobalt paint, used in traditional Gzhel porcelain painting. Initially, the pigment is gray, but after being fired at 1200 degrees, it turns a bright blue. The patterns on the models literally symbolize burns — traces left during moments of vulnerability when confronted with various experiences and emotions.
Just as a surface exposed to fire acquires its final color, a person, having gone through trials, reveals new parts of their personality, unlocking inner strength and resilience. These figures are a reflection of how, despite pain and wounds, we become more whole and attain true beauty.
