Late for What?
Sometimes we think it’s too late, too late to catch up, to make up for lost time, to win.
She saw life as a race, too;
a race with an endless list of goals, comparisons, and things she had to achieve.
She ran so hard just to keep from falling behind
that she forgot to ask herself:
If I’m not meant to win,
then why am I running so hard?
Maybe life was never a race to be won.
Maybe she was simply meant to live it.
And how hard that was, when the only thing she had ever learned
was how to run,
and how to fall
somewhere in the maze of goals she had built for herself.
