There is always a moment before transformation. A breath before departure. A stillness before the water opens. This is that moment. Because every crossing demands more than movement. It demands surrender. I created this image during my 2024 Lagos trip at Badagry Beach, Lagos State, Nigeria. The photograph captures a solitude figure between land and sea, stillness and motion, memory and destiny. The monochrome treatment strips the image down to atmosphere and emotion, allowing the viewer to focus on form, ritual, and anticipation. The open sky and endless horizon create a sense of spiritual passage, while the figure's gesture toward the distance suggests searching, waiting, or preparing for an unseen journey. This work reflects my ongoing interest in documenting African presence, symbolism, and quiet cinematic moments through photography. It exists between documentary and mythology, reality and meditation.
