JACQUARD CARDS

In 1752 a weaver's son was born in Lyon. As a boy, Joseph-Marie Jacquard hauled the cords of a drawloom by hand, one pull per pass of the shuttle. He spent a decade building the machine that would replace him: a head that read punched cards, one hole per lifted thread. The pattern left the weaver's hands and moved into the cards. JACQUARD CARDS is a deck woven the same way. One integer - the seed - decides every arc, every rail, every drilled ring. Nothing placed by hand. No photograph, no scan, no image model. The card is the program.
