The Interrupted Symphony
This building was once a triumphant jewel of the Italian Liberty style (Art Nouveau), built at the dawn of the 20th century. It was the cultural pride of the region, richly adorned with floral frescoes and elegant stucco work. But in 2012, the curtain fell not by human hands, but by the violence of nature. A devastating earthquake tore open the walls and collapsed the roof. Where opera notes once filled the tiers, a heavy silence now reigns. It is a place where the music was violently stopped, and beauty now lies in ruins.
