''A person doesn’t break at the moment of impact, but in the instant they realize there’s no one left to resist for''. The fracture grows slowly, like a crack in a wall that everyone gets used to and stops noticing. First, the voice disappears. Then the face. Then the right to be whole. We learn to live in pieces. Carrying the body separate from the will, memory separate from pain, fear separate from the name. On the outside, we stand. Inside, the knees have long been on the floor. Then comes the realization: the fracture didn’t pass through the world—it passed through you, and it will never fully heal back. We call it adaptation. Survival. Maturity. But really, it’s just agreeing to be broken and continuing to breathe. The fracture is the point where a person stops being whole and, for the first time, becomes convenient.
