Diamond of the Sea of Light
In this collection, I wanted to highlight a striking contrast between everyday crows—familiar and always present—and the national jewels of my country, hidden behind museum vitrines and rarely seen closely. The idea of uniting two vastly different elements has always inspired me. Here, I placed magnificent jewels in natural landscapes, where their brilliance may be lost, overlooked, or take on new meaning.
Crows, intelligent and drawn to anything shiny, become fascinated by these jewels. Whether it’s a broken mirror or a jeweled crown, every glimmer holds value for them. Smaller objects are easy for them to steal, but larger treasures create tension—sometimes forcing them to share, negotiate, or compete.
This series is inspired by the remarkable treasures of the National Jewelry Museum of Iran and the many crow behaviors I observed during my walks. Each painting blends jewels, nature, and crow figures into a unique story, created with oil on canvas.
