Tulipanis Cubes
Tulipanis Cubes is a collection of 1/1 living digital artworks composed from my original oil paintings.
For many years, I have worked in oil, and everything I create still begins there: with my hands, a brush, and a canvas. Rather than creating digital paintings, I found a way to let my paintings continue living.
Each Cube is built from one or more of my paintings. Some are composed from a single painting, endlessly revealing new compositions of the same work. Others bring six different paintings together, allowing them to meet and interact in ways that were never possible on canvas. Every Cube follows its own continuous path, revealing relationships between colour, form and emotion that never repeat in exactly the same way.
The idea began long before the technology. As a teenager I was fascinated by the Rubik's Cube. I taught myself to solve it, captivated by the thought that a handful of fixed elements could produce an astonishing richness of possibilities. Years later, searching for a way to bring my paintings into the digital world without losing their soul, I began experimenting with movement, music and code. Trained as a business software engineer, I always believed I could build that bridge myself. Only recently, I was finally able to realise that vision.
At its heart, Tulipanis Cubes is about transformation. Each oil painting captures a single emotion held still in time. The Cube releases that stillness. Images dissolve, reform and evolve, yet always remain true to the painting from which they came. Every moment is unique. Every composition belongs only to itself. What changes is not the painting, but the way it is experienced.
The Cubes are neither paintings nor sculptures. They are living digital artworks where traditional painting, mathematics and code become a single artistic language.
