The Third Eye usually appears after someone believes their own lie so completely they forget it was ever a lie. At first it resembles a bruise beneath the skin, the wrong color, too symmetrical, too still. Then a crack appears in the surface, shallow enough to dismiss. Then an eye, fully formed, staring slightly above the horizon of everyone else in the room. Carriers are considered blessed by most denominations, cursed by two, and fashionable by one small sect in the eastern provinces that shall not be named in official doctrine. The Eye's primary limitation is attention. It rarely looks at the same thing the carrier is looking at. It watches something adjacent, a door slightly to the left, a face two rows back, a corner of ceiling that turns out to contain, upon inspection, nothing anyone else can see. Carriers learn to triangulate. They develop a habit of glancing at what the Eye is watching before committing to any important decision. Most carriers adapt within a season. Everyone around them adapts slower. This asymmetry is considered, by the Table, to be the blessing. “It isn't that the Eye sees the future. It sees the present more completely than the rest of you can afford to.” - Judge Rust, Bell Wars deposition 1500x2045 © The Table of Faith | FOWLSIGNS™
