Parity
In erasure coding, a few thin parity strips are enough to reconstruct entire blocks of lost data. The heavy black shards here are the data; the colored threads crossing them are the parity - redundant, almost invisible, easy to dismiss. Until the day a blade fails. Then the thinnest lines on the canvas become the only reason the whole picture can be rebuilt. Redundancy is not waste. Redundancy is memory.
