The Paper Sea #1
The Paper Sea #1 is an interactive digital artwork that brings the layered texture of cardboard into real-time particle motion. Two distinct compositions are reinterpreted through a WebGL 2 system using up to two million particles, depending on device performance. The images’ color and brightness data shape the particles’ appearance and the surface’s depth.
The viewer’s dragging gesture determines the direction and progression of the transformation between these two worlds. Color, texture, and depth shift together as cardboard waves take on a new composition. When the gesture stops, the transition holds its position while subtle surface movement continues.
Rendered live in the browser rather than played as a prerecorded video, the work invites the viewer to become a participant who sets the rhythm of its transformation.
