Pursuit of Equilibrium: The Seeker's Collection
Kinesis No. 2
"Kinesis" is a kinetic digital artwork that exists only in its living, dynamic form. A GIF or looping video cannot capture its full motion because the piece runs on two cycles: a relative cycle of 4 minutes and 20 seconds, where all layers briefly realign but not in their original positions, and a global cycle of just over 69 hours, when every layer finally returns to its exact starting point. The fact that these numbers land at 4 minutes 20 seconds and 69 hours feels almost too perfect to be a coincidence, a bit of hidden serendipity in the math.
Built from an actual pendulum light painting, Kinesis layers multiple instances of the same image. Each instance rotates at a slightly different speed, drifting in and out of phase. These shifts create moments of harmony and collapse, echoing the behavior of kinetic systems in the physical world.
Kinesis is a reward for the seekers of light, and was originally gifted to the 14 unique bidders of Lux No. 7, the final piece of Pursuit of Equilibrium, Chapter 1. Each variation is defined by its distinct color composition. Some feature a single dominant hue, while others pair a primary with a secondary. The distribution of these colorways was determined through a pseudo random algorithm seeded by the Ethereum block hash from the Lux No. 7 mint.
