Unfinished Projects
Remains Standing, Fukushima, 2018
Most of the structures in this area were washed away in the tsunami. When the water receded it took everything with it. Years later objects from this neighborhood would turn up on beaches in North America. The few buildings that remained became something of a fisherman's net, collecting household items that happened to float through. Volunteers would hunt through piles to find photo albums, awards, decorations - things that might be sentimental or important to someone in hopes they would later be reunited. Most of these objects remain unclaimed. The buildings that survived the disaster, they won't survive the recovery.
