Lampwrecked thespacesinbetween, 2026 Interactive HTML, long exposure photograph, custom software, sound In thespacesinbetween, Lampwrecked transforms a physical environment into digital space. The source is a single long exposure photograph — hand-drawn streaks of light recorded in a physical location — processed through a custom synthesizer of the artist's own design. The software reads contrast points across the image, measuring the data of every pixel's relationship to its neighbors, and generates a topological mesh fractured into planes. The shards are sorted by brightness and animated by category, yet the mesh behaves as a single body: displacing one fragment sets the others in motion. The work extends a long preoccupation with the fractured picture plane, from Cézanne's faceted viewpoints to Cubism's intersecting geometries, into computational terms — here the fracture is not composed but measured, derived from relationships between pixels latent in the photograph itself. Its subject is the interval: the unseen connections between fragments, registered only as movement passing from one to another. Viewers may reset, randomize, or play the mesh as sound, translating the same structure into another register entirely.
