Longfin smelt: Vertical migration
Longfin smelt are an Endangered species that lives at least a portion of its life in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta and San Francisco Bay, California. To find food and avoid predators, they move up and down in the water column, a process called vertical migration.
The physical painting was created with encaustic mixed media and completed in 2023.
