My beautiful distraction
I can’t remember when it started. I just remember waking up one day and realizing that nothing made me happy anymore. It felt like life was happening behind a glass wall, and all I could do was watch. I barely recognized myself.
Little by little, I retreated into silence, sinking so deep it felt like I had reached the bottom of the ocean.
The strange thing was, I had spent so long feeling like I was suffocating, yet somehow, underwater was the first place I could breathe.
And there, for a brief moment, I found the peace I had been searching for all those years.
When I opened my eyes, I was back home.
A peacock stood at the end of the hallway, beautiful, just like everything the world had taught me to chase.
But I didn’t want anything anymore.
I just lay there, watching the fish swim above my head.
Sometimes I wonder if I ever really left the water.
Maybe I’ve just learned how to live in the depths.
