SIGHTSEERS - A Christmas Drive
Open Gone
Through the glass, the world sneers back —
Golden letters bleached in neon desperation.
OPEN GONE — the sign hums
Like a hymn for the forgotten.
He sits silent, sunglassed,
A king with no kingdom,
Ruling over cracked leather and a dying radio
That spits static like machine-gun fire.
Out here, time bends.
The road eats itself and spits you out —
A thousand versions of who you could’ve been.
Each mile is a confession,
Each light a lie you told yourself
To keep driving, keep breathing,
Keep outrunning the reaper in the rearview.
The night watches.
He exhales, heavy,
Waiting for dawn to bring nothing
But another sign
Whispering WELCOME
When all you are is gone.
