Ashes in the Frost
A lone tree burns where the sky retreats,
Snowman smiles, its buttons black suns,
A car idles in the pale forgetting,
Exhaust sighs in plumes of lost warmth,
A world exhaling memories undone.
Orange light breaks through the grey,
Pastel scars on a frozen canvas,
The snowman grins at the end of things,
Winter's hymn, a silent fracture,
A ghost parade of fading kings.
