Candy Cane Siege
Smiling frost, cracked and jagged,
A mob of grins sharper than ice,
Candy canes dripping like wounds,
Splinters of cheer against steel and chrome.
The car stares back, weary,
Its paint streaked in war-torn silver,
And as the snowmen close in, laughing—
A question hangs,
Red and white,
Bitter and sweet,
How did it come to this?
