Empty Brass
Two men in black,
Caught between chords and concrete,
The saxophone gleams—
But it plays nothing.
A smile stretched tight,
Against the roar of dead towers.
They ride nowhere,
Dressed for a party that never began.
Notes float like smoke,
Invisible in cold air,
And the silence wraps the car—
Thick as regret,
Sharp as the edge of sound unplayed.
