What Once Was
It was once a home,
a place where life gathered and endured,
through winters locked in frost
and summers lifted by wildflowers.
Its walls stood between warmth and wilderness,
a quiet shield against wind, weather, and the unknown.
What once held so much
now stands as a shell,
wood worn smooth by years and silence.
Yet nothing here is truly empty.
Memories linger in the grain of the boards,
whispering through the trees that edge the valley.
They speak of days shaped by labor and light,
of nights beneath vast skies,
of a life lived in the shadow of mountains.
