I Better Pass My Neighbour
Dangerous Victims
It's easy to draw a line from the thousands of kids left to fend for their daily bread in the streets, and the seemingly endless pool of child soldiers who now terrorize the country. This is mostly found in the Almajiri scheme, where parents surrender their children to the care of clerics incapable of tending to their basic needs, especially in the northern part of Nigeria. Children who should be in school are found roaming the streets, not knowing where their next meal will come from.
Kids denied their dignity and basic rights will always be vulnerable to whoever shows them even a little compassion. Sadly, this gross negligence is paying unkind dividends today.
