Inside of me a silent night
Inside of me, a silent night
Still walks along my hidden ways,
It comes when I have lost my light,
When heavy hearts forget their days.
It keeps the echoes of my pain,
The words I never dared to say,
The gardens washed by autumn rain,
The dreams that slowly slipped away.
But somewhere deep beneath the cold,
Where no one sees and no one knows,
A little flame is still aglow,
A quiet warmth that gently grows.
It does not shout, “I have won”
It does not promise endless skies,
It simply stays until the dawn
And wipes the tears from tired eyes.
For darkness teaches me to see
The precious beauty of the flame.
It shows the light that lives in me,
The part of me that stays the same.
And when the night returns again
And covers all I’ve ever known,
I’ll guard this light within my soul
A tiny star that’s mine alone.
Let shadows whisper, let them stay,
Let storms surround my fragile heart
The light within will find its way
And lead me through the deepest dark.
