This is an interactive space and galaxy exploration piece created with ChatGPT and Perplexity. It depicts a starry sky scene with comets, an asteroid belt, and planets that is meant to simulate the galaxy. It consists of a drag and explore feature where the user can explore the galaxy simulation by dragging the screen and moving across the galaxy. Once the user finds the planets which are scattered across the screen, they can hover over each planet to watch it expand and rotate, adding to the interactive features of my art piece. The piece also features animated shooting stars and an asteroid belt that moves across the screen to add to the features of the galaxy. Medium: The mediums for this art piece were ChatGPT and Perplexity. To create my piece, I started with ChatGPT. I generated a basic outline for my piece after I input images and descriptions of what I wanted my piece to look like. While the piece started coming together, I was not satisfied with the quality of these outputs, as they were not very detailed and did not fully capture my vision for the interactive galaxy art. This was where I switched to Perplexity, which added more detail and realism to my art piece. With Perplexity, I was also able to add more detailed features, such as the asteroid belt, the rotating moon, and hovering features of the planets. Ultimately, I found these two AI sources to come together well where ChatGPT could create a basic outline for my art piece which could be further detailed and significantly improved by Perplexity. Artist Bio: Adithi Chakkera is a first year Applied Mathematics student at UCLA who is interested in pursuing careers in machine learning and AI research. She likes creating artwork and coding, and so with this project, she combined these hobbies along with her career interests to create a piece depicting an interactive galaxy model, which has always been one of her favorite sceneries. Artist Statement: I have always loved galaxy backdrops and starry scenes, and this piece was created to reflect this. The piece started out as a simple starry sky backdrop, until I realized I could make it into something more. I decided to add certain elements into my galaxy scene to create an interactive space exploration scene. Using ChatGPT and Perplexity, I created an art piece that depicts a starry scenery with planets and shooting stars. I have always been intrigued by galaxy scenes and wanted to recreate some of my favorite galaxy images with generative art. The piece was created to reflect my fascination with galaxy scenes and space.
