I’d been dreaming of photographing bison in the Grand Tetons for years, and this year I finally got my chance. After days of searching with no luck, on the fourth day, we almost gave up, worried we might even get skunked. On the drive back to our campground, during perfect golden hour light, we spotted a huge herd right by the road. I grabbed my camera and telephoto lens and got to work, and that’s when I saw him, a massive bison with a striking red eye, staring straight at me. It was an incredible moment to witness.
