Take Mine Echo Graph, Video Still, 2024 Ana María Caballero This digital artwork is a still from Echo Graph, a choreographic video poem that returns to the emergency birth of Ana María Caballero’s first child. The micro-poetic film originates from a poem from Caballero’s book MAMMAL, written after an incorrect diagnosis led to an emergency C-section. Twelve years later, Caballero revisited that medical encounter, rewriting her story using the visual language of an ultrasound, recorded via motion-capture technology. The work reclaims trauma through its transformation into art. By publishing the poem through her own body, Caballero becomes an artist, writer, patient who has seized control.
