Two Windows
In a stone wall, two windows are imprisoned,
Two weary, two lonely — one is you, one is me.
The wall is black stone, cold and hard as granite,
It has placed a silent lock upon our weary lips.
There has always been a distance between your hands and mine,
With this same bitterness, our days and nights have passed.
There is no long road between us, yet even this is too much,
The only bond between you and me is the gentle hand of the wind.
We must remain imprisoned, as long as we are alive,
For us, freedom is death — we die so that we may be free.
I wish this wall would collapse, and you and I would die together,
In another world, we would hold each other’s hands.
Perhaps there, within our hearts, there would be no pain of hatred,
And between their windows, there would be no wall anymore.
I wish this wall would collapse, and you and I would die together,
In another world, we would hold each other’s hands.
Perhaps there, within our hearts, there would be no pain of hatred,
And between their windows, there would be no wall anymore.
