Orphan
"War knows no childhood. It only steals it, forcing the smallest ones to witness the hell that grown-ups turned the world into"
— Unknown military doctor, 1943
He is not a hero. Not a soldier. Not a prisoner.
He is just a child.
He never held a weapon, never led an army, never chose a side.
His only “crime” being born in the wrong place, at the wrong time.
He wanted to sleep in his own bed,
to draw suns on paper,
to call his mother into the room
so she could admire a tank made of toy blocks.
His eyes have seen more than we’re willing to understand.
He saw streets vanish, lives collapse in an instant.
He remembers the faces of those who are no longer here…
War has always been the work of adults their ambitions, their fears, their greed…
"Orphan" is not just the loss of parents.
It is the loss of a future,
the loss of innocence,
the loss of faith that adults know how to protect the world.
